Virginia knew she could not outrun them in these narrow confines. Her only option was to stand her ground and hope that the tales of their cowardice were true.
The young girl took a deep breath, trying to still the tremble in her voice. “I seek passage,” she said, her eyes flicking from one goblin to the next, assessing any potential escape routes. “I mean no harm. I only wish to explore the depths of the mine.”
