When Fiona first saw it through her bedroom window, she thought it was a trick of the moonlight. A tall shadow looming in the distance, darker than the night itself. Its elongated form swayed unnatural, as if blown by a wind that only it could feel. She blamed her overactive imagination and closed the curtains before quickly jumped into bed.

She jumped out of her bed and peered through her window. The shadow stood in front of her house, its tentacle-like arms draping across the sky like reaching vines.
