By the time I reached the eastern fields, the sun had slipped below the hills, leaving only a band of dull amber along the horizon. It was the hour I preferred for gathering herbs. The evening cool drew the bitterness from yarrow and kept the dew from bruising the delicate leaves of mugwort. The turnip fields stretched beside the narrow footpath, row upon row disappearing into the growing dusk.
Mr. Miller, an old friend of my father’s, had always allowed me to gather herbs along the edges of his fields. I knelt beside the ditch and clipped a handful of mugwort, shaking loose the damp soil before slipping the stems into my pockets.
Crickets had begun their evening chorus, and an owl called somewhere in the distance. It should have been an ordinary walk home. But as I stood, something caught my eye. Several rows of turnips looked… wrong.
At first I thought it was disease. Their leaves were larger than the rest, darker, with thick veins twisting through them like black cords. The soil around them looked freshly disturbed, as though something beneath had shifted moments before.
Then something moved! Far ahead, where the last light faded, a pale shape rose between the rows. The earth split with a wet, tearing crack, and a massive turnip slick with mud forced its way upward. Its roots strained and snapped before unfolding into limbs!
Long, knotted arms dragged it free while root-like fingers clawed at the soil. Tangled legs kicked loose as dirt fell from its body. My mouth went dry. Its bulbous white head was carved with deep grooves like an overgrown turnip left too long in the ground. What the hell was that thing?!
Slowly, it turned toward me. Two hollow pits opened where its face should have been. Fuck, it had seen me! The creature stepped closer. Its movements were wrong, its limbs bending at impossible angles, yet each step was unnervingly steady. Thick roots dragged behind it, slithering over the soil.
Before I could even think to scream, root-like fingers shot around my wrist with startling strength. I struggled instinctively as it pulled me close, its cracked face stopping inches from mine. The smell of damp earth and freshly cut roots filled my lungs. I thrashed against its grip, kicking wildly as panic overwhelmed me.
Then it spoke. The sound was unlike anything I had ever heard—a chorus of wet creaks, grinding roots, and hollow breaths forced through rotten wood. It rose and fell with the rhythm of speech, but I couldn’t understand a single sound. My heart hammered against my ribs. “I… I don’t understand,” I whispered. The creature tightened its grip. What did it want from me?
Its response was sudden and violent. The creature’s fingers like jagged splinters of wood hooked into the collar of my dungarees. With a single, powerful yank, the fabric screamed and tore open! Before I could gasp, it hauled them down, ripping through the seams with a wet, tearing sound.”Stop! Please, somebody help me!” I shrieked as it stripped me naked.
From the jagged rift of its mouth, a long, glistening tongue unfurled. It wasn’t like a human tongue; it was a thick, translucent muscle, slick with a colorless slime that shimmered in the dying amber light. It licked my nipples in a slow, rhythmic stroke. What the fuck was it doing to me!? The sensation was repulsive, but before I could respond it surged upward, pressing its face against mine. With a sudden, wet suction, the fissure clamped over my mouth, its tongue invading me. It felt as though it were trying to draw the very breath out of my lungs, pulling the air from my throat into its own hollow core.
I was still recovering from the shock when the creature suddenly hoisted me off the ground. I flailed, my boots kicking at the empty air, as it slammed me onto the metal hood of a tractor. It didn’t give me time to recover. The creature crowded into my space, its massive, bulbous weight pinning me down. Its tongue was sandpaper-rough and scorching hot, flicking across my body with a rhythmic, aggressive hunger.
Then, without a hint of hesitation, it drove into me. I couldn’t even describe what it felt like—there was no distinct organ, just a thick, pulsing mass of woody muscle and wet fiber that felt too large for the space it occupied. It was a deep, invasive pressure that felt like a root forcing its way through a crack in a stone.
Every thrust was a jarring, heavy thud, stretching me to a breaking point and filling me with a suffocating, organic heat. The creature groaned, a sound like grinding boulders, as it hammered itself into me. With every heave, I felt the rough, bark-like texture of its skin scraping against my thighs, leaving raw streaks of red. The rhythm was mindless and relentless, a biological drive that cared nothing for my pain or my screams. It didn’t just want me; it wanted to occupy every inch of me, planting itself deep within my core as if it were sowing a seed in fertile soil.
With a violent toss, I hit the mud, the impact knocking a sharp gasp from my lungs. The creature didn’t pause. It gripped my hips with those splintered fingers, digging deep into my flesh to anchor itself. Then it drove back inside my pussy from behind.
The sensation was different now—deeper, more invasive. It felt as though it wasn’t just a single organ, but a network of branching roots that unfurled and expanded inside my gut, weaving through my organs and anchoring themselves to my spine.
The thrusts became frantic, a rhythmic hammering that shook my entire frame. I could feel the roots pushing further up into my chest, stretching my internals until I felt I might split open from the inside. It was so deep, so fucking deep. I never felt anything like that before.
Then, the friction hit a point of no return. Despite the terror and the raw pain of the scrapes, a sudden, traitorous spark ignited in my gut. The sensation was violent and overwhelming, an electric surge that bypassed my mind and spoke directly to my nerves. I fought it, sobbing into the dirt, trying to hold onto a shred of dignity against this vegetable horror, but the pleasure was an avalanche. I felt my muscles seize and contract around the woody mass, and with a strangled cry, I came.
The creature followed immediately after. Thick, hot fluids poured into me with an invasive force that made my stomach bulge. I was filled so completely that I felt the liquid pressing against the walls of my bladder and my womb, a heavy, warm weight that threatened to overflow. I didn’t scream this time; instead, a low, guttural moan broke from my throat, a sound of pure, overstimulated exhaustion.
Darkness claimed me in a sudden, heavy swoop. The last thing I remembered was the smell of damp loam and the distant, mocking call of an owl. I passed out.
When I woke, sunlight stabbed at my eyes, blinding and relentless. I was lying face-down in the dirt, my skin coated in a crust of dried mud and sperm. Standing over me was Old Man Miller, his weathered face caught somewhere between concern and disbelief. “Good heavens, Avery,” he said, kneeling beside me. “Are you hurt? What happened to you?” I was so embarrassed, I don’t even know what excuse I made up. He insisted to give me a ride back home.
The ride back to the village in the cab of his truck was a suffocating exercise in silence. I huddled against the vinyl seat, clutching a coarse burlap sack he’d thrown over my shoulders to hide my shame. My insides felt heavy, a dull ache lingering in my pelvis, but as the morning sun climbed higher, the memory of the creature began to fray. The logic of the daylight took over; there are no root-monsters, only hallucinations brought on by exhaustion or some strange forest fungus. I looked at my scratched thighs and convinced myself I had simply tripped into the brambles during a blackout.
Miller pulled the truck to a stop at the edge of my garden gate and braked hard, the tires crunching on the gravel. “Well, that was the damnedest thing,” he muttered as he opened the door for me. “Finding you sleeping in a hole in my fields this morning, right where my gigantic prize turnip used to grow. No trace of it left. Strange way to start the week.”
